  YOU EVER FEEL SCARED IT IS THE TRUTH?

  just wondered as im prob about to give up so much, coz i dont think it is the truth but its come as such a shock!.

  my family believe it so much, my dad feels he can answer any question i have, and being brought up in it sometimes it scares me.

  Personally I'm not scared its the truth because I have checked it out for myself and found it to be another interpretation - e.g. I am currently looking at the prophesy in Dan chapter 4 regarding the dream about the tree, the society say there is a greater fullfillment (7 times = 2520 years - 607 to 1914) BUT read Daniel, where does it say anything else but that it applies to the King? There is no ambiguity about the application. Yet the WTS has made up - WITH NO SCRIPTURAL EVIDENCE - that it has another application??? Did you know that they used to say the Historic date for the destruction of Jerusalem was 606 bc, after finding out there was no year 0 they adjusted it to 607! In other words they moved a historical date instead of the prophetic date they interpreted, working backwards from 1914 instead of forwards from an established date (which if you research is 20 years off the society's claim). This was so they could keep the 1914 date which is so pivotal to their belief system.

  For me it really started when I realised that despite saying they were not like the Pharisees of Jesus day, they in fact were! Once you break the mindset they cultivate in you, you start to see more problems. I would advise you to reasearch, read the Bible (NT) on your own and see the real message, which has been blinded by them.

  yo people, a question...

  witnesses are studying the daniel book and i wanted to know if i can prove any of the prophecy in there is wrong, for example what book or resource can i prove 607bce is wrong.

  Read the chapter on Nebuchadnezza's dream about the tree, and notice how no scriptural reason is given to applying the seven times to anything other than what Daniels says: 'it is it is you, O king' Then discover that 606 was originally used as the date of Jerusalem's destruction because they didnt realise there was no year zero, and instead of moving 1914 they moved a historical date making it now 607bc. This shows they had to protect the date 1914 at all costs as their whole belief structure would fall, such as Jesus selecting the Bible Students in 1918 (despite many now discarded belief's and dates). Check secular history as to what date it shows for Jerusalem's destruction (temple) and it will consistantly be 586/7bc.

  Saved by grace or by works?

  according to the wts if we do not produce acts of good work (feild service, attending 5 meetings weekly, circuit and district assemblies etc), we are not worthy of salvation.

  according to the bible, we attain salvation through god's undeserved grace ( or kindness in jw lingo).

  what i am looking for is scriptural proof that will shoot down the first and support the latter.

  Thats a very telling observation by funkyderek above. I assumed that as you accepted a teaching, you already had proved this for yourself, but after you ask for the proof! I would recommend looking at Romans first.

  it seems that some of you are serving or have been serving as elders and have judical committee experience (stillajwexelder for example).

  i want to know how i must behave in jc meeting to avoid disfellowshipping.

  At the end of the day if you wish to continue being a Witness you have to play by their rules. Just be yourself in the judicial. If your worried that men will judge you and its not from Jesus the head of the Christian congregation on earth, then dont go, learn for yourself what the Bible says and leave with your head held high.

  At the moment you sound frightened and scared, of whom though? Is it not the Elders who you perceive have power and control over you? Will they be stood next to you when you stand before Jesus on judgement day? If you read the Bible and have found yourself to have sinned against God then go to him for your forgiveness. Your life is in one of fear due to the high control and cult type tactics you have lived in for so long, the thought of leaving all that sounds scary. But just look at all those here that broke free from serving men, do we sound scared? In time you wont either if you check out your faith now, see what they teach and compare it to the Bible - i'm sure you will find it in striking contrast. Can I recommend an unbiased reading of the book of Romans.

  Just remember these are only men and its is before God and Jesus that you may or may not answer, dont give them anymore power

  i was going through some old boxes in my attic and found some older wts publications, mainly spanning late 60's to 90's, but among those was a couple from the 40's and 50's, but the real scoop was the book 'riches' by none other than jf rutherford!

  i'm hoping to witness first hand some of the witnesses flip flops on doctrine.. does anyone know if there is anything significant in this book that i should look out for when reading it?.

  hope you are all well.. if you have been following the soap-opera of my life and the letter i wrote my dad then you may be interested in the latest.. my dad has been here visiting and we had a good long talk yesterday about my letter and what has brought me to the decision to leave the org.

  he listened to everything i had to say and agreed with everything i had to say.

  his own doubts arose when he became an elder and got a clearer picture of the abusive tactics that are used on the sheep.

  I've been following your threads on this and I must say its turned out pretty good so far! I guess only time will tell if he eventually wishes to turn his back on the organisation, but his talking to you has certainly given him food for thought on it. Well done you!

  i'm curious, when you made your decision to leave the org.

  did you do it before or after looking at this kind of internet sites?.

  in my case i made my decision without ever looking any of this websites.

  I left before I looked on the internet, in fact for a good while after I still felt bad to look at sites like this. I felt there was little love and the congregations were full of politics, with Pharasaical rules imposed on the followers, in the end all the guilt loaded on me made me unhappy and I couldnt see myself attaining paradise.

  it may have already been talked about here but i just saw it last night with some other "apostate" friends.. wasn't it amazing in it's similarity to the borg.. my favorite scene was everyone reading together "dick and jane" talk about a great watchtower study depiction!

  if god had organised for each pair of species into noah's ark prior the flooding which destroyed many in wildlife.

  i wonder if any of australian animal species like kangaroos, wombats and emus were also included?

  I was once on a bible study, and the gentleman put across many good points - suffice it to say he never joined . Anyhow he asked a similar question of us, so I went away and found the WTS answer was continental ridges! Basically paths connecting up the continents, so the respective animals simply walked to any of the continents. I remember at the time thinking what a lame answer, but was no where near opening my mind at that time.
